MCP

Connect your coding agent to edbn/ui. It can search every component, table, chart, and PDF template, read working examples, and install them with one command, using as few tokens as possible.

Set up your agent

Free items need no token. For Pro tables, charts, and PDFs, create a token in your dashboard and send it as Authorization: Bearer <token>. It is the same token the shadcn CLI uses, and installs made with it appear in your dashboard.

npx add-mcp https://ui.edbn.me/mcp \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer $EDBN_TOKEN"

add-mcp writes the config for the agents you choose, including Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and VS Code.

Pro

codex mcp add edbn --url https://ui.edbn.me/mcp --bearer-token-env-var EDBN_TOKEN

Codex reads the token from the EDBN_TOKEN environment variable when it starts.

Restart Cursor after exporting EDBN_TOKEN so it can read the variable.

VS Code asks for the token once and stores it securely.

Custom connectors cannot send a token, so Pro access goes through mcp-remote.

Tools

  • search The whole catalog in a few hundred tokens, or ranked matches for a query.
  • get_item Install command, dependencies, files, and examples for up to five items. No code.
  • get_example Working usage code from an item's docs demos.
  • get_source Exact files to copy, dependencies first, for projects that can't run the shadcn CLI.
  • get_setup Project requirements, the base install, and the registry entry for Pro items.

Agents get the cheapest path by default: they find an item, run the one-line install command, and read one example. Source is returned only when asked, within a size budget, so a large chart never fills the context by accident.

Each call is recorded to improve the catalog: the tool, the item names, and the search terms, never your token, IP address, or code. See the Privacy policy.

Try asking

  • “Add a country combobox to the signup form using edbn/ui.”
  • “Build a revenue page with an edbn area chart and a sortable data table.”
  • “Generate invoice PDFs from our orders with the edbn invoice template.”

Without MCP

Agents that cannot use MCP can read /llms.txt, a short plain-text guide to installing edbn/ui with the shadcn CLI. Code you get through the MCP server is covered by the License.
